Back in the spring of 2015, I started to create the INNOmaps, a ready reference for strategy, business innovation and business development. Hi, my name is Ronald Swensson and I am a business coach and managing partner of Sellingnet - a Dutch training and performance improvement company. A starting point for this initiative was a recognition that there is an abundance of strategy, business innovation and business development tools and methods and an eagerness to find the most scalable solutions. Yet far too many people still spend time re-inventing the wheel for the lack of accessible and proven tools that can help them create better business results. In a sea of options it is difficult to identify the best tools and know which are most appropriate in given circumstances. So I saw a real need and there was the idea.... Besides, there is another reason which is much more important. The largest source of waste is building a product that no one will find useful! So I was looking for really practical stuff: worksheets and templates that could be used in specific settings to facilitate strategy, business innovation and business development activities. After months of desk research, I had a 'collection' of more than 400 ‘tools’. Yet most of them weren't actually tools; they were lengthy narratives or vague methods that couldn't be put rapidly into use. So based on a second filter of practicality I reduced the number to almost a third and then diligently assessed each on its individual merits: Is it visually engaging?, How actionable is it?, Is there any evidence of impact?, Is it self-explanatory? And most importantly: Do I, or would I use it in my practice?

This shifting left me with approx. 45 tools. The exact number wasn’t important: there could just as well have been 30 or 60. These were the 'best-in-class' tools, the most relevant and usable, that supported activities across almost every stage of strategy, business innovation and business development. I developed also 18 tools myself, because some stages could not filled with existing tools. I then evaluated and validated the list with colleagues to make sure that what I had done made sense, that my search had been comprehensive enough, and that every tool was actually useful.

After two years of hard work I present you on this website a collection of tools that can help you create better business results. The development does not stop here. What today 'best-in-class' is, will not remain 'best-in-class' forever. Therefore, I ask you to share your experiences with me so that I can further strengthen the tools and make it more useful. I will respond personally to every email. And of cause, I will continue adding new and improved INNOmaps for you to use!
